California-the land of beaches,surfers,Hollywood and the Sillicon Valley,but also of soccer.Besides that it currently hosts the LA Galaxy and the San Jose Earthquakes which were the part of the NASL era in the 1970s,back in that era with the Quakes there were the LA Aztecs,San Diego Sockers,but also a small club in Orange County-the California Surf which wore the name of surfers who are the part of the California culture.Also the Surf had one of the most iconic kits of the 1970s which is a must have for any collector across the World since it is one of the most unusual ever seen.The Surf came into existence in 1978 when the moved from St.Louis to Anaheim in Orange County and lasted until 1981 when they ceased to exist.Nevertheless under British coach John Sewell made the playoffs three times with twice losing to San Diego in the 1st round and once to the Fort Lauderdale Strikers again in the first round.But also the club has a huge number of British players with Brazilian legend Carlos Alberto and Americans like Rich D’Sa.In 1981 the short lived Surf ceased to exist,but nevertheless but Southern California and Orange County on the soccer map of the USA in a time when California was a magical land of surfing,beaches and waves with their shirt being a collectors must have of the NASL era.
