Formed in 1875 by Irish immigrants who lived in the Scottish capital, the club always used the colors of green and white in order to express its Irish identity.Unlike the Old Firm between Celtic and Rangers, the its rivalry with their fellow co-citizens which is Hearts is based on geography rather than religion, but it still matters for both clubs which are legging behind the two Old Firm clubs. Also worth of mentioning is that Hibernian helped Celtic in its beginnings when it donated kits to them since the share the same Catholic and Irish identity, but among Hibernians fans that is less viewed.Hibernian didn’t had much success besides that it was the first club from Britain to play in Europe. The club’s most successful period was in the late 1940s and early 1950s when with the Famous Five (Bobby Johnstone,Gordon Smith,Eddie Turnbull,Willie Ormond and Lawrie Reilly) dominated Scottish football in that era and the club won three titles with them (1947-48,1950-51,1951-52).Ever since that period besides a brief revival in the mid-1970s when they made two second place finishes (1973-74 and 1974-75).After their the only success they had is that they won the Scottish Legue Cup in the 2006-07.Currently Hibernian in the Scottish Championship (2nd division) since they were relegated in the 2013-14 season.Besides that their kit isn’t one the must have still it achieved minor cult status worldwide and it is one of the iconic shirts of the 1970s.
